PRESIDENT/TREASURER
TJ Bohannon, CPA (President): As Founder, President and Treasurer of the NVSA, TJ is focused on bringing the standardbred industry to Nevada. Known as an “Equine Evangelist”, he is focused on building strong relationships with education and industry professionals to build the foundation for growth. He has 30 years in the industry (full and part time) in various capacities including ownership and stable operations. As an owner, he attended USTA Driver/Trainer school to strengthen his knowledge passing the Drivers written exam. Although small in comparison, he has driven hundreds of jogging and a mix of training miles in recent years helping.
Additionally, TJ is a CPA, financial, risk management, and corporate governance expert who has served on several boards and presently provides leadership to the Nye County Parks and Recreation Board of Advisors. During his years, he has founded several companies including the Western Standardbred Alliance, Inc. and Equine Industry Development LLC, firms dedicated to the growth of the standardbred industry. TJ has extensive experience providing financial, operational, risk management and corporate governance leadership with JPMorgan Chase, Capital One, Central Garden and Pet, Lakeview Asset Management, and Bardon Investments.
SECRETARY:
Ted Bookstaver (Finance/Horsemen): Ted is a standardbred owner and breeder who claimed a horse in 1992 at the Meadowlands and has been active ever since. He earned his 'P' driver's license in 1994 and has driven at Monticello Raceway, Pocono Downs and Goshen Historic Track. Ted has been in entertainment for more than 25 years, where he has specialized in the international distribution and monetization of produced and formattable content. Currently he is the Vice President of Client Relations for North Americas at eTribez, Inc., an Israeli-based software firm that provides digital solutions to the production industry. He has a Bachelor's Degree from Washington University in St. Louis, and an MBA degree (in finance) from Pepperdine University. Ted adds industry value and understanding of entertainment content, which simulcasting is a key component to the success of harness racing.
DIRECTORS:
Barbara Burns (Membership): Ms. Burns is an award winning entrepreneur, who has launched several businesses in life sciences and the service industries. She has been an 'Outstanding Volunteer' for the Opera Columbus and Diabetes Foundation of Collier County and has performed at Carnegie Hall. Barbara has owned several standardbreds, and is known most notably as a breeder. One of her top producing mares, is now the dam of a $1 million producing pacer.
Marty Allen, DVM (Horse care): “Magic" Marty was raised in the Standardbred racing industry and understands the rigors and stresses of horses in extreme sports. He graduated from Colorado State University Veterinarian School (1994), and earned his Masters degree at the University of Illinois in 2001, where he performed his surgery residency and later was Associate Professor.
Director in Memoriam:
Andy Bryner (in Memoriam): Andy past away in late 2021 and was a longtime horseman and former VP of Indiana Standardbred Association. We have memorialized his efforts to the Nevada Standardbred Association and recognize him as a Board Member in Memoriam.
